‘Everybody should learn how to programme because it teaches you how to think’. Steve Jobs
Digital access is a right and not a privilege, and as such participation in coding and robotics opportunities for children and young people with a hear loss or impairment is an important step towards ensuring social and digital inclusion.
The ROBOTICS4DEAF Erasmus+ KA2 School project (Project number: 2019-1-PL01-KA201-065123) aims to design, develop and evaluate an inclusive Tool Kit and a dual Educational Pack that will support teachers to introduce coding and robotics to the deaf community of students, through formal and non-formal learning opportunities. In doing so, the consortium promotes the European Pillar of Social Rights and the European Disability Strategy for ensuring access, participation and employability prospects for deaf youth in the digitalised labor market.
The powerful team of organizations and professionals met on the 19th and 20th of December at the Społeczna Akademia Nauk University in Lodz eager to kick-off the work of the ROBOTICS4DEAF project.
The consortium members include the Istituto Dei Sordi Di Torino in Italy, NCSR “DEMOKRITOS” in Greece, Rēzeknes Tehnoloģiju akadēmija in Latvia, DeafStudio o.z., Emphasys Centre in Cyprus and Polski Związek Głuchych Zarząd Główny in Poland.
